Lord, it is dark, and the road is rough to go;
I lift an unlit candle in the night,
Behold it Lord, within my upraised hand;
And touch it to flame with Thine own heavenly light.
This slender waxen thing that is my faith,
Fire it Lord, with some divine white spark,
Until its circle, widening at my feet,
Will mark my certain path across the dark.
"Thou will light my candle"… thus assured
I shall go forward throughout this unknown land;
The way shall never grow too dark, too long,
For I shall bear Thy light within my hand.
And God said," Let there be light!", and there was light
And God saw the light, that it was good
The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all.
The light shineth in the darkness,
And the darkness has not ever been able to overcome it.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.
Jesus said, "I am come a light into the world.
He that followeth after me shall not walk in darkness.
Jesus said,"You are the light of the world.
A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid,
Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel,
But on a candlestick, and it giveth light unto all that are in the house."
While you have the light, believe in the light, less darkness overcome you.
For he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whereth he goeth,
But while you have the light, believe in the light,
And you shall become children of the light.
Jesus said,"Let your light so shine before men
That they may see your good works, and glorify your father who is in heaven."
Jesus said,"Abide in me and I in you as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself
Unless it abides in the vine, nor can you unless you abide in me."
For he who abides in me and I in him,
The same shall bring forth much fruit.
Now you have been made clean through the Word
Which I have spoken unto you.
Remember, you did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you
That you should go and bear much fruit and that your fruit should abide.
In my father's house are many mansions, if it were not so I would have told you,
But I go to prepare a place for you,
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again
And receive you unto myself that where I am, there you may be also
And whether I go ye know and the way ye know for I am the way, the truth, and the life
No one, no one comes to the Father except by me.
These things have I spoken unto you being yet present with you,
But the comforter, the Holy Spirit,
Whom the Father will send in my name
Who is with us here tonight,
He will teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance
Whatsoever I have said unto you.
Let your light so shine that men may see your good works,
And glorify your Father in heaven.
Amen.
